From The President

Dear Friends of Apitherapy,

I am writing on behalf of our renewed executive committee to announce several important updates and initiatives.

First and foremost, to initiate a new phase of growth and expansion for the International Federation of Apitherapy (IFA), we are now recruiting new members and would like to extend an invitation to you to join our Federation. The Federation is entering its 8th year and there have been many changes since it was formed back in 2012. With its core values and solid foundation in place, established by serving its members and providing a professional networking platform in the field of apitherapy, we are now determined to host many more functions for professional growth, scientific opportunities for collaboration, and social events for team-building with every coming year.

The sharing of experiences in apitherapy is at the heart of what we offer to our members; however, we are also keen to ensure that the social and scientific elements meet the expectations of all of our members. To this end, we always welcome our members’ input, and with this objective in mind, we will be implementing a survey to get your feedback, which will be instrumental in directing our renewed focus and our future initiatives with the IFA.

As part of this new phase, I am happy to inform you that the Turkish Health Ministry has approved regulations regarding the practice and collaboration of initiatives in the field of apitherapy. Thus, an Apitherapy Centre affiliated with a major medical school (Medipol University) in Turkey is available for our members to pursue academic collaborations and carry out clinical studies. Using this unique opportunity, and replicating it in other locations, IFA members will soon be able to access modern medical research tools and pursue grant opportunities for apitherapy research on several fronts.

To further accelerate this new growth phase for the IFA and attract additional interest in what we do, the 2020 International Apitherapy Congress will take place in Istanbul, at a date to be announced soon, as a joint event with the 3rd International Traditional and Complementary Medicine Congress (see reverse), which is expected to draw over 2000 participants. It will be an excellent opportunity to bring all the current and future members of the International Federation of Apitherapy together for discussion and interaction, while also providing a significant networking platform through the attendance of major stakeholders such as the World Health Organization, the Ministers of Health of several WHO-member countries, as well as sponsors and NGOs that can support the IFA’s mission.

I sincerely hope you will consider becoming a member of the Federation and join us in Istanbul, at our 2020 Congress.

If you have any questions or require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I look forward to meeting you all personally.

Yours sincerely,
Dr. Ali Timuçin Atayoglu
President of the International Federation of Apitherapy (IFA)
